Welcome to the new library book blog! Before I begin posting on our community’s book recommendations, I wanted to introduce myself, and why I began this project. Over the summer I created a spreadsheet to document both books I have read, and want to read as a way of organizing my favorite pieces of the books I was reading, along with keeping a running list of books I hoped to read, so when I recieved recomendations or found a new book I would have a place to record it, and save it for later. On my spreadsheet too, I put a place to record breif summaries and beautiful quotes so that I would always have a way to remember some of the things which made each individual book I was reading special. As I wrote more and more of these reflections into my free reading books, I began to realise that I was looking deeper into the books and language that I was reading. Lines in books were no longer lines, but quotes I could extract to cherish and remember. Plot points were no longer simply actions, but a question into what I was going to take away or learn from the book.
For reference, here is my own book spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ntmb6WrM88f0m7YlJXdDm57tIaLWLeb-pL7GNuA8UqE/edit?usp=sharing
I grew both as a reader and as a person from my personal spreadsheet, so I wanted a way reach out to the community, and give others the oppertunity to improve their free reading expirience. I hope that from this blog you find a new book to read, or a new person to talk to about literature, or even a new way of documenting what you want to read or what you have read to allow you to get the most out of you time spent reading.
Finally, from the eternal words of Oscar Wilde, “it’s what you read when you don’t have to that determines what you will be when you can’t help it. Enojy the blog, and happy reading!
